North Carroll Community School
401 Stone Road, Carroll County, Maryland
Our school is nestled in beautiful, north-central Maryland. We are located on 12 acres in Carroll County, Maryland. We serve students from multiple counties within Maryland and Pennsylvania. Our outdoor facilities include a full-size athletic field, natural playscape, patio, porch (with plenty of rocking chairs!), an outdoor pavilion classroom, chicken coop, and access to a pond directly across the street.

Outdoor Classrooms & Playscape
As much as possible, we are outside! Whether we need sunscreen, hats, raincoats or winter gear, we get outside! When possible, we use our outdoor classrooms with handmade chairs from tree trunks and teaching aids. We also use other locations around the campus for classes.

Our playground has a jungle gym, swings, slides, a Gaga pit, a maker space, drum wall, including several natural, educational and safe places for physical play and wonder! Our school building features inviting classrooms, dedicated art and music rooms, STEM and makerspace areas, a study room for working with tutors or specialists, a coffee bar for parents, and an open, central atrium.

Monarch Waystation
The Westminster Rotary Club donated a monarch waystation to NCCS! Monarch waystations provide essential habitats for monarch butterflies, offering them a safe haven to rest, feed, and reproduce during their long migrations. Our students rolled up their sleeves to build the infrastructure and prepare the grounds for the waystation forever homes!
NCCS Chickens

Our students care for the chickens and their coop! Students learn about living sustainably, including how chickens socialize and contribute to pest control, waste reduction and fertilizer.
…and Bee Hives!
We have quite the buzz on campus! We have beehives! Watch our fun video showcasing our newest additions to campus (…and a bonus "Who doesn't love a parade?!")
Yep, we have a fire pit too!
