Learning outside the classroom!

NCCS students participate in several field trips throughout the year. Experiences outside routine classroom learning are essential for teaching the whole child.  Offering a multitude of benefits, our field trips:

  • solidify a student's understanding of concepts by applying them to real-world situations
  • develop a student's social skills through collaborative activities, discussions, and interactions with new people
  • encourage curiosity
  • inspire a passion for learning
  • promote critical thinking
  • expose students to diverse cultures, environments, and perspectives
  • nurture empathy

Examples of our field trip adventures:

  • The Museum of Natural History (Washington DC)
  • Gaver Farms (Mount Airy, MD)
  • Seneca Schoolhouse (Poolesville, MD)
