Community is at the heart of all we do at NCCS!
We engage with the community at large in a variety of ways:
- Tuesday for Tots – early childhood enrichment experience available to the public
- Monthly middle school student trips to play and work with members of The ARC of Carroll County resident-participants. NCCS has been working with The ARC of Carroll County since 2015.
- NCCS has partnered with the Carroll County-based Infinite Love Project to participate in county, national and international kindness initiatives, including our own initiative of taking NCCS-student, hand-painted “Be Kind” signs out into our Real Life Connection communities.
- Every fall, NCCS participates in the Designer Shoe Warehouse (DSW) Sole for Souls program. Over the years, NCCS students and their families have donated thousands of shoes for this community effort.
- For the Thanksgiving season, our students hold a friendly competition along classes to collect food donations for the Carroll County Food Bank.
- NCCS has partnered with Target Community and Educational Services, Inc., (Target) to employ one of their resident participants at NCCS, giving them the opportunity to thrive in and contribute to our school community experience.
