Relationship, leadership and community building skills
NCCS staff observes student relationships and interest during the first five weeks of school. We match older students (mentors) with younger students (mentees), sparking the beginning of their journey at school together.
Throughout the year they work together and develop a positive relationship that is beneficial to both students. We coach our mentors how to engage with their mentees, while embodying NCCS core values.
At the beginning of the year, we also form “houses” of five mentor-mentees pairs. The houses collaborate during weekly Morning Meetings to solve challenges as well as go on mentor/mentee-specific field trips and monthly events to serve our community.
