Our lower school students are generally 5-11 years old and are working on academic standards for grades kindergarten through five. In lower school, lessons and activities are constructed to ensure that students get plenty of moment, play, hands-on activity, and opportunities to construct meaning. Traditional subjects such as literature, mathematics, science, and history are great foundations for games, activities, and projects that allow students to learn in different ways. Foundations for our anchors are laid within lessons as we try to grow students with sound character. Recess is important for growing minds and bodies, so students participate in free play periods twice per day. We believe that learning is a social endeavor. Our curriculum is designed to allow students to collaborate and encourage one another in their learning journeys.
