Our Campus

Our school is situated on a beautiful twelve-acre campus in Carroll County Maryland.  Our outdoor facilities include a full-size soccer field, natural playscape, picnic patio, an outdoor pavilion classroom, chicken coop, and access to a pond directly across the street.  Our school building was erected in 2017 and features inviting classrooms, dedicated art and music rooms, STEM and Makerspace areas, a study room for working with tutors or specialists, a coffee bar for parents and older students, and a gorgeous, open, central atrium.

Outdoor Play

Research has shown that there are many benefits to unstructured outdoor play.  Some of these include increased cognitive and social/emotional development, increased attention span, greater creativity, improved sensory skills, increased physical activity, strengthened immunity, and increased happiness.

At NCCS, all of our students participate in outdoor activities during the day.  Each child participates in two scheduled recess times each day.  Students can opt to play on the logs and rocks of the natural playscape, use the swings and see-saws, brave the giant slide, make masterpieces in our mud kitchen, and enjoy a game of soccer or gaga on our lower field. Additionally, at times, weather permitting, lessons are taken outdoors.
